Young Writers Initiative 2024 Annual Winners.

Matthew Payne (Year 8, Boronia and The Basin K12) is our 2024 High School individual winner for his insightful article informing us about the medical condition
‘POTS’, published in September. Matthew receives a $200 voucher and a certificate.

Audrey Carlill (Year 6, Saint Bernadette’s Primary School) is our 2024 Primary School individual winner for her delightful story, ‘Succumbing to Winter’, published in May.
Audrey also receives a $200 voucher and a certificate.

Congratulations to Boronia K12 College as the recipient of the annual secondary school award of $400 for being the most active high school in the area for
YWI. Principal, Paul Broecker said the school prize reflects theinvestment teachers and students are making and the impact this has
on their learners’ motivation. The prize money will be well invested in learning programs for 2025.

Congratulations to Boronia Heights Primary School as the recipient of the annual primary school award of $400 for being the most active primary school in the area for YWI. The principal, Mathew Anderton was excited to receive the award praising the effort and enthusiasm of their students and promising that the money would be well used next year.

BBCN is pleased with the quality and number of articles submitted in our second year of the Young Writers Initiative and to provide a channel through which young writers
can publish their work. Sharing a diversity of thoughts from our young community members is our key purpose. We aim to bring the community together and inform
conversations that lead to more connections and stronger relationships between our residents. During 2024, from April to December 2023, sixteen local students received awards of $50
and a certificate in addition to these annual awards. This program provides support and encouragement for our local young writers to share their work
