Adventure in the Dark

By Axel

Mike and John were riding along the dirt track to the bike jump. Mike was in front on his black BMX.

He looked over his shoulder and said ‘do you want to go to the skate park or do you want to go to the… arrrrgggghhhhhhhhh!’ Mike heard John yell ‘use your breaks!’ but Mike’s breaks weren’t working.

He was falling down a mine shaft until finally… He reached the very bottom. It was cold and dark. Suddenly, John landed on Mike’s head. ‘Oof’. The boys wandered around, wondering how to get out and what to do.

They couldn’t really see much. They were worried and scared. They felt around in the dark until they were able to get back on their bikes.

There was just enough room to ride. Mike rode ahead and felt a bump. He reached down to pick it up and to his surprise, it was a torch. He turned it on and pointed it towards John.

Only then did they realise they were on each other’s bikes. They shone the torch and rode until they found another exit but it was too steep to get up.

As he stopped, something fell out of Mike’s pocket. ‘What’s that?’ asked John. ‘What do you mean what’s that?’ Mike said.

John picked up the thing that had fallen out of Mike’s pocket. It was a phone! Mike took it. ‘Here, I’ll call my dad.’

A couple of minutes later, their dad arrived with a truck and a quad bike. He rode down to the boys with a winch.

A few hours later, as the sun was beginning to set, they were released into the wild!
